What is Mold Assessment?

 Mold assessment is defined as an inspection or evaluation of a property to identify mold, conditions that encourage mold growth, or factors that could potentially lead to mold development.

What is Mold Remediation?

Mold remediation refers to the removal, cleaning, sanitizing, or disinfecting of mold, including proper containment and safe handling of waste materials. It does not usually include fixing the moisture source unless specified.

Responsibilities of a Licensed Mold Remediator:

  1. Prepare a Work Plan for each project (must follow the assessor’s remediation plan).
  2. Ensure the plan is provided to the client before work begins and kept on-site.

Key Work Standards:

  • Provide required PPE for employees as specified in the plan.
  • Build containment structures to prevent mold spread.
  • Post visible warning signage at all work area entrances.
  • Maintain containment until the assessor provides clearance approval.
  • Use only EPA-registered disinfectants/biocides according to label instructions.
