Drinking Water and Lead
The Private Well Testing Act (PWTA) requires testing during property transfers. Parameters include coliform, nitrates, iron, manganese, arsenic, lead, and VOCs.
Lead in drinking water must be tested in schools and childcare centers as per NJAC 6A:26-12.4.
Wastewater, Soil, and Air

Legionella and Water Management:
Senate Bill 2188, effective September 12, 2024, mandates public community water systems with more than 100 connections to maintain disinfectant levels, implement water management plans, and report any service interruptions.
Facilities such as healthcare centers, high-rises, senior housing, correctional institutions, pools, and cooling towers must implement Legionella Water Management Programs by September 12, 2025, in alignment with ASHRAE 188 and CDC guidelines.
